Canada has decided to impose new sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko's regime in response to its involvement in the Russian Federation's illegal invasion of sovereign Ukraine.

The statement was published on March 17 by the press service of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is reported that the list of restrictions includes 22 officials from the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, who supported the war of the Russian Federation, allowing their country to become a platform for the Kremlin to invade.< /p>

-Today's statement sends a clear message to President Putin's cronies that those who support violations of Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence will be held accountable, the statement said.

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly emphasizes that the Belarusian leadership must be held accountable for allowing and supporting Russia's unprovoked attacks.

– Canada calls on Alexander Lukashenko to stop supporting the Russian invasion. We will not hesitate to take further action. The world is watching,” Joly stressed.

Recall that Canada has already imposed sanctions against more than 500 individuals and legal entities from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.

It also banned Belarusian aircraft to enter their airspace.

Earlier, at the initiative of the Canadian government, the Russian propaganda channel RT (Russia Today) was banned there.
