Canada bans broadcasting of Russian TV channels RT and RT France

Earlier, the operation of these TV channels was banned in the EU, the USA and Africa.

The Canadian authorities banned broadcasting in country of the Russian TV channels RT and RT France, in particular because of the concern of the citizens of the country about the work of these media.

This was reported by the Canadian Commission on Radio and Television on March 16.

“Today the commission has officially removed RT and RT France from the list of non-Canadian programming services and stations authorized for distribution,” the statement said.

“Freedom of speech and diversity of views is a necessary part of our democracy. However, it is a privilege, not the right to broadcast in Canada Foreign channels may be excluded from the allowed list if their programs do not meet the standards for which they are supported Canadian services, or their continued distribution, are no longer in the public interest, as was the case with RT and RT France”, said Ian Scott, head and CEO of the Canadian Radio and Television Commission. p>
