“We are on the brink of a disaster that could be much worse than what happened in the spring,” he warned. According to the politician, the government is ready to do whatever it takes to stop the spread of the infection. Trudeau emphasized that Canada is in any case ready for the second wave, since “once already coped with the first.”
He also assured that the country is ready for an economic crisis, because its financial situation is much better than in other countries. However, Reuters points out that the country has a growing budget deficit, and the Canadian dollar continues to fall.
According to the latest data, there are 147.7 thousand people infected with coronavirus in the country. 9.2 thousand people died.
Austria also announced the start of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic on 13 September. Chancellor of the country Sebastian Kurz urged to observe measures to prevent the spread of infection.
