In Slovenia, the burned statue of US First Lady Melania Trump was replaced with a bronze copy. Der Spiegel writes about this.
The life-size bronze figure was erected near her hometown of Sevnitsa. The new bronze statue stands on a 2.8 meter high wooden pillar.
In fact, this is a copy of an old wooden statue that was burned several months ago. Next to the bronze figure is a plate with the inscription: “This statue is dedicated to the eternal memory of the monument to Melania, which stood at this place.”
The statue of the wife of US President Donald Trump, which appeared in Slovenia in 2019, was set on fire in July 2020. The burnt sculpture was removed from the place where it was. The cause of the vandalism has not yet been established, the criminals have not been found.
The sculpture depicted Melania Trump in a blue dress, in which she attended the inauguration of her husband. The statue was made of wood in the genre of naive art. In social networks, the work of the sculpture was ambiguously assessed, considering it unlike the wife of the American leader. So, users found a similarity between the statue and Smurfette (the heroine of the cartoon “The Smurfs” – approx. “Lenta.ru” ), called it bizarre, ugly and shameful.
