Sanctions against Russia and falling markets against the backdrop of a special military operation in the Donbass will have consequences for Germany as well. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock, RIA Novosti quotes.
“This war in our immediate neighboring region will have repercussions for us as well. Sanctions against Russia, rising prices, falling markets will have the opposite effect on Germany,” Burbock admitted. At the same time, she stressed that she considers it fundamentally important to introduce anti-Russian measures in protest against the military operation in the Donbass.
Burbock also said that she considers it necessary to stand up for European peace and order.
The European Union will introduce the most severe sanctions against Russia for conducting a military operation in Ukraine, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, promised earlier. “The European Union will respond in the strongest possible way… [EU leaders] will adopt a stricter package, the toughest package of sanctions that we have ever applied,” the diplomat promised.
