Trial after an umpire murder
A German referee was strangled and robbed during sex by his 22-year-old lover.
In January, the 56-year-old was found dead in his apartment in Chemnitz. According to investigations by the police and the public prosecutor's office, he was strangled during sex by his lover Waldemar S. Now comes the trial of the 22-year-old native of Kazakhstan.
Prosecutor Stephan Butzkies explains in his indictment: “The defendant and his future victim agreed to meet by phone on January 25, 2021 in the victim's apartment to have sexual contact. The defendant strangled Mr. (…) with a belt made from a bathrobe, until the victim gave no more sign of life. “
The alleged perpetrator is said to have stolen an iPhone, credit cards and an unspecified amount of cash in his act. The victim is a referee who made a number of appearances in the Bundesliga and 2nd division in the 1990s. He was married to a woman until 2017, then they separated.
Since then he has apparently led a double life that nobody knew anything about. His friend Dietmar Neubart says in the “Bild”: “It is possible that he only discovered his orientation when he separated from his wife. Nobody suspected anything of his inclinations.”
