A Russian propagandist was expelled from Bulgaria.
Bulgaria's State National Security Agency (SANS) reported on November 1 that Russkaya Gazeta correspondent Alexander Gatsak had been expelled from the country due to a threat to national security.
This was reported by the BTA news agency.
A SANS press release said that “compulsory administrative measures have been taken against Gacak, including the revocation of the right of residence, expulsion and a ban on entry and residence in the territory of EU member states.” The reason for these measures was “activities that pose a threat to the national security of Bulgaria.”
Gatsak left Bulgaria on November 1.
Russkaya Gazeta correspondent Alexander Gatsak was summoned on September 29 to serve an expulsion order: first to the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and then to the State National Security Agency of Bulgaria. But he did not show up there and was hiding on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Sofia.
Earlier, Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said that measures were being taken in the Bulgarian information space to reduce the influence of Russian propaganda.
