Bulgaria closes airspace to Russian aircraft

The Ministry of Transport of Bulgaria announced the closure of airspace for Russian aircraft from Saturday

Bulgaria from Saturday, February 26, will close its airspace to Russian aircraft due to the situation in Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Transport of the country.

“Bulgaria introduces a ban on takeoff, landing and entry of Russian aircraft into the airspace of the country. All aircraft with a license issued by the Russian Federation cannot enter the sovereign airspace of the Republic of Bulgaria, including airspace over territorial waters.

The ban takes effect at midnight local time (01:00 Moscow time).

On February 25, it became known that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki instructed the Council of Ministers to prepare a resolution on the closure of the country's Polish airspace for aircraft from Russia.

Earlier, the two largest British airlines reported that their aircraft had stopped using Russian airspace. According to a statement by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, the airlines stopped using Russian airspace after receiving confirmation that Moscow had imposed sanctions on London.
