Bulgaria abandoned the NATO exercises Poseidon-21 in the Black Sea, as five cases of coronavirus infection were recorded on the ships of the country's naval forces (Navy). This is reported by TASS with reference to Radio Romania.
“The Bulgarian partner had a problem related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and for this reason he rejected participation in the multinational exercises,” explained the chief of staff of the Romanian Navy Mihai Panait and confirmed to the agency Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Security of Bulgaria Krasimir Karakachanov. He explained that Bulgaria warned the Romanian side a week ago.
The NATO exercise began on February 26 and will last until March 6. More than 700 foreign military personnel will take part in them. The planned exercises, which will combine forces from Bulgaria, France, Greece, Romania, Spain, the United States and Turkey, will take place on the sea, land and air.
