Bucharest scrambles F-16 over Russian drones: UAV wreckage recorded in Romania

by alex

This is not the first incident with a Russian drone in Romania.

On September 9, the wreckage of a Russian UAV was recorded in the Romanian county of Tulcea, not far from the Ukrainian border.

This was reported by the Ministry of National Defense Romania.

At least two Russian Shaheds crossed Romanian airspace. Because of them, Bucharest was forced to scramble F-16s.

The Romanian Defense Ministry, Intelligence Service and Interior Ministry said they had “collected fragments of a Russian drone” in the vicinity of the village of Periprava in Tulcea County. They should be sent for examination “in accordance with legal procedures.”

“In the near future, searches will also take place in the vicinity of Karaorman, where, according to reports, there is another possible crash site,” the Ministry of Defense said.

It is noted that the debris was found outside of populated areas, no infrastructure elements were damaged.

Recall that NATO called Russia's latest violation of Romanian airspace potentially dangerous, but did not recognize the appearance of Russian drones in the skies over the country as a deliberate attack.
