British boxer Danny Williams retired from his sports career after being defeated by Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Sergei Kharitonov. The Daily Mail reports.
The athlete declined to comment on the reasons for this decision. According to the source, many of Williams' friends and colleagues were worried about his condition in the battle with Kharitonov. In their opinion, the Briton should no longer enter the ring.
On September 11, Kharitonov defeated Williams. The referee recorded the victory of the Russian by TKO in the second round. For 40-year-old Kharitonov, the fight was his debut in professional boxing.
The Russian is known for his performances in MMA in the Pride and Bellator promotions. The Russian heavyweight won 30 victories and suffered seven defeats.
