British TV presenter resigns after criticism of Meghan Markle
British TV presenter Pierce Morgan left the Good Morning Britain program on ITV after criticizing Prince Harry's wife Meghan Markle, according to the channel's website.
Morgan questioned Markle's claims about Buckingham Palace's refusal of psychological help following her complaints of suicidal thoughts. In addition, the journalist said that in an interview with CBS, the couple “destroyed everything that the queen was building.”
According to the British media regulator Ofcom, more than 41 thousand complaints were received on the Good Morning Britain program after Morgan's statements. The agency launched an investigation over a journalist's possible violation of the UK television broadcasting code.
We will remind, on the evening of March 7, the American channel CBS showed a two-hour interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which they gave to TV presenter Oprah Winfrey. In it, the prince's wife, in particular, mentioned that the royal family was worried about the skin color of her unborn child, and also said that during her first pregnancy, due to pressure from some members of the royal family, she was pursued by thoughts of suicide.
