British scientists ranked the most drinking professions

Scientists from the University of Liverpool conducted a study and found that men who work in construction and manufacturing, and women leaders, lead the ranking of the most “drinking” occupations in Britain. The work is described in an article published in the journal BMC Public Health.

Experts studied the data of over 100 thousand residents of the United Kingdom aged 40 to 69 years, included in the UK Biobank database from 2006 to 2010. Participants in the study were asked in questionnaires to answer the question of how much alcohol they consume per week, as well as their profession.

It turned out that among men, workers in production, construction, and also cleaners are most often drawn to the bottle. Priests, doctors, physicists, as well as geologists and meteorologists drink alcohol least of all. Among women, top and middle managers were the most drinking. Teachers, doctors and scientists almost never drink alcohol.

The experts stressed that their study does not indicate the reason for alcohol dependence among specific professions, but only analyzes the propensity of representatives of various fields of activity to alcohol. In this regard, it is incorrect to believe that work in construction will inevitably lead to alcohol dependence.

Earlier, British scientists conducted a study and found out why alcohol makes people more attractive.
