Despite the fact that during the outbreak of the omicron strain of coronavirus, patients began to complain of stomach upset more often, this ailment is a deceptive symptom. This follows from the results of a study by British scientists from the organization Zoe COVID Symptom Study.
According to experts, the increase in complaints was observed from mid-December 2021 to the end of January 2022. However, it turned out that a sharp increase in the number of people who reported problems with the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract) is not associated with the new COVID-19 strain.
Experts stressed that in winter there is often an increase in patients with stomach upset. In particular, it can be caused by a norovirus infection, which usually manifests itself at this time of year. In this regard, the authors of the material recommended washing hands before and during cooking, observing hygiene in public places and adhering to the principles of healthy eating to avoid intestinal infections.
Earlier, ZOE COVID Study researchers described the symptoms of the omicron strain COVD-19. According to scientists, among the most common symptoms of the omicron strain of coronavirus are headache, runny nose, frequent sneezing, sore throat and increased fatigue.
