British police are disproportionately brutal towards blacks and other ethnic minorities, with more frequent searches and harsh arrests. Although law enforcement officers have been convicted of this for a very long time, no clear reasons for this situation and ways to remedy it have yet been found, Sky News reports, citing a report from the Royal Inspectorate of Police, Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
“35 years after the introduction of street searches, no one has been able to understand the effect they have. (…) The disproportionality [in relation to minorities] persists and no one has given a satisfactory explanation for this, ”the report says.
It also cites data for the past two years: the likelihood of being searched on the street for non-whites in the UK is four times higher than for whites. Blacks do the worst: they are used against them 5.7 times more often than against whites, and 9 times more often with stun guns.
Earlier in February, it was reported that Allegiant Air was accused of racism after the crew of the plane suspended a group of black teenagers from the flight on one of the flights: they refused to wear medical masks.
