Iranian prosecutors accused the British PMC of involvement in the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, head of the elite Al-Quds unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This was reported by the Al-Mayadeen TV channel.
The investigation believes that the G4S company, which was engaged in ensuring the security of the Baghdad airport, informed the US military about the arrival of the Iranian commander. Prosecutors are also examining Germany's involvement in the murder.
Earlier, the Iranian authorities said that they were able to identify 48 people involved in the murder of Soleimani. The head of the Human Rights Council, Ali Bagheri Kani, said that Iran has appealed to the countries that were somehow involved in the operation to eliminate the commander of the IRGC, with a demand for information. Germany became one of them. Tehran learned that Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany was involved in the exchange of data between American drones, the official said.
Soleimani's assassination was carried out by the US military on January 3, 2020 in Iraqi Baghdad. After that, relations between the countries heated up. In response, on the night of January 8, several American military installations in Iraq were attacked by the Iranian IRGC. After that, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of new sanctions.
