British intelligence agency MI5 opened an Instagram account
The British counterintelligence service has opened an official account on Instagram, the Daily Telegraph writes.
The article in the newspaper was written by the head of the secret service Ken McCallum. He said that in this way the department wants to “acquaint subscribers with some aspects of MI5's work”, as well as “show more openness.” In addition, the secret service intends in this way to dispel some myths about itself and its work.
“MI5 is making its social media debut with some delay and this is just one example of our more open approach. However, we hope that it will allow us to better ensure the security of the country, ”McCallum wrote.
In addition, with the help of social networks, the department hopes to “strengthen contacts and partnerships with the scientific community, small and large businesses”, as well as “demonstrate a willingness to hire talented people, regardless of gender, ethnicity and disability.”
Earlier it became known that Instagram gave users the ability to block not only accounts, but also individual words and emoticons.
