British general warns of the threat of world war due to pandemic
UK Defense Chief of Staff Nick Carter believes that the economic problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic could lead to a security crisis in the world, Sky News reports.
In an interview with the TV channel, the general noted that this had already happened in the past.
In his opinion, in the presence of many regional conflicts in the world, there is always a real risk that someone's miscalculation could cause large-scale consequences.
“I’m just saying that there is a risk and we need to take it into account,” Carter replied to a journalist's clarifying question whether he was talking about the threat of a third world war.
The general urged to remember the victims of past global confrontations in order to prevent their recurrence.
Earlier it was reported that experts predicted a new economic crisis for the world due to the coronavirus pandemic. The damage to the global economy in the coming years is estimated at $ 35 trillion.
