The British frigate HMS Westminster is on high alert in the North Sea near the Shetland Islands. The newspaper The Daily Telegraph writes about this.
According to the newspaper, the vessel will track the ships of the Russian Navy, which are expected to return to the naval base in Severomorsk on the eve of Orthodox Christmas. At the same time, the British frigate will use a hydrophone system to listen to submarines.
On August 28, it was reported that the United States noticed a Russian submarine surfaced near Alaska. The Northern Command of the US Armed Forces said it was closely monitoring the Russian submarine. Also, the American side expressed its readiness to provide assistance to the Russian military if necessary. In Russia, they replied that it was the Omsk nuclear-powered submarine cruiser (APCKR) participating in the exercises, and there was no emergency situation.
