British Ambassador to the United States Karen Pearce has declared her unwillingness to concede to Russia and China in the victory over the coronavirus. She said this in an interview with Bloomberg.
According to her, one of the main challenges was the strategic struggle with Moscow and Beijing. Pierce believes that none of these countries should emerge victorious from the pandemic.
In addition, she said that China could once again become a trendsetter in the technology sphere, and recalled that it took precedence in the 1950s, when it invented and spread nuclear weapons. “We don't want to wake up one day and find that Chinese standards are laid down in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics,” the diplomat said.
Pierce urged “more open” countries to act and develop to thrive after the end of the COVID-19 period. In this regard, she recommended the United Kingdom and the United States to unite.
