Fuel poverty charity National Energy Action said the number of UK households unable to pay their electricity bills could reach record levels by the spring if the authorities don't take action. Writes about this The Guardian.

Nearly four million British households were already affected by fuel poverty before electricity tariffs rose in October as a result of rising prices in the global energy market.

The organization said that in connection with the next increase in prices, fuel poverty compared to last year could affect two million more households, as a result, the total number of these households will reach six million. This will be Britain's “highest fuel poverty rate” since 1996.

According to National Energy Action executive director Adam Skorer, the number of households affected by fuel poverty will skyrocket in April.
