The British authorities decided to accept about 20 thousand refugees from Afghanistan, captured by the radical Taliban movement. British Home Secretary Prity Patel reported this in an article for the Daily Telegraph, urging the European Union and other countries to follow the example of the United Kingdom.
“Our new program for the resettlement of Afghan citizens will allow us to accept up to 20 thousand people who are forced to flee Afghanistan. The first five thousand will arrive within a year, ”reads the article of the head of the British Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Prity Patel stressed that London alone cannot cope with the huge influx of refugees, therefore, she discusses the need to help Afghans with other Western countries – for example, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
We will remind, as the website kp.ru wrote, earlier US President Joe Biden, speaking from the White House, said that he was “upset with what is happening in Afghanistan,” but did not regret anything, since the further stay of the American military in this country, according to him, would threaten with great losses.
