Britain may relocate nuclear submarines from Scotland
The British authorities intend to move their nuclear submarines from bases in Scotland if the region leaves the kingdom, writes the Financial Times.
According to the sources of the publication, one of the possible options is to transfer the boats to a base in England, in particular, the Devonport base near Plymouth.
The second option of action involves the transfer of submarines to bases in the United States or France. A third option could be a long-term lease of the Royal Navy bases in Faslane and Culport, Scotland, which should be given the status of British overseas territories.
Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the European Commission Maros Sefchovich said that the European Union had refused the UK to revise the protocol on Northern Ireland, which regulates the status of the border between the EU and the United Kingdom on the island of Ireland.
According to him, the European Union is ready, together with Great Britain, to seek a solution to the problems that arose during the implementation of the protocol.
