Food enthusiasts of the British department store chain “Marks and Spencer” looked at empty shelves in France on Tuesday. In more than a dozen shops in and around Paris, there were signs instead of sandwiches, meat cakes and other to-go dishes the company apologizes for delivery problems – triggered by the final Brexit at the turn of the year.
Because of the “new import rules between the EU and Great Britain”, some products are currently not available, “we are sorry”, it said on the signs. “Marks and Spencer” are doing everything to ensure that they are delivered quickly. The kingdom completed Brexit with the exit from the EU internal market and the customs union at the turn of the year.
The chain's groceries are made in the center of England. Relocating production to France is not an option for “Marks and Spencer” according to their own statements. Instead, a spokesman asked for patience. Since everything is still changing, some products simply take “a little longer” to get into the shelves.
