Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Opponents of the free sale of arms in Brazil must stop making claims against buyers of gun shops. This was stated by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, his words were reported by Reuters.

The politician spoke at a meeting with his followers near the official presidential residence. He opposed the condemnation of the part of the population that owns weapons, and urged every citizen of the country to buy a rifle.

The agency notes that earlier Bolsonaro made attempts to change Brazilian legislation so that more residents could acquire weapons.

On August 18, a parliamentary commission in Brazil convicted Bolsonaro of using false data in claims of deaths from coronavirus in the country. A member of the Brazilian Accounts Chamber, Alexandre Márquez, admitted that he participated in the creation of a false document, on the basis of which the president announced in June that the governors and local authorities exaggerated the number of deaths from coronavirus.
