Nutritionist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Mikhail Ginzburg, in an interview with the TV channel “Zvezda”, named products that improve the functioning of the brain and allow maintaining mental abilities in good condition.
Fatty marine fish like salmon or mackerel have the most beneficial effects on brain cells, he said. “There's a lot of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids that are needed to build nerve cell membranes,” Ginsburg said.
Eggs and egg yolks are in second place in terms of benefits for the mind. They contain phospholipids necessary for building membranes. The third place in the list was taken by such “colored vegetables” as carrots, tomatoes, peppers and pumpkin. “They contain beta-carotene and carotenoids, which have a pronounced antioxidant effect,” the specialist explained.
It is noted that the fourth place on this list went to citrus fruits, and the fifth – to a number of spices and seasonings such as turmeric, ginger and garlic.
Earlier, a British oncologist “listed” the main symptoms of a brain tumor, the main ones being sudden seizures and sudden weakness.
