With the surprising resignation of Karl Schmidhofer as ÖSV President, old rifts in the ski association could open again.
ÖSV President Schmidhofer resigns
A stroke of fate: Schmidhofer declares resignation
It was only in July that Schmidhofer was elected to succeed ÖSV long-term president Peter Schröcksnadel. After only 100 days, the Styrian resigns from office for private reasons.
The 59-year-old was thrown into the “battle” for the highest ski office in the country as a surprise candidate and emerged as the compromise winner. Before that, Michael Walchhofer and Renate Götschl competed for the ÖSV presidency. The duel between the two ex-stars raised a lot of dust.
Now old election conflicts could boil up again. Vice-President Roswitha Stadlober takes over the office temporarily, in the next week the ÖSV wants to decide how to proceed afterwards.
So it is very possible that there will be another power struggle for the ÖSV.
