EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell phoned British Foreign Minister Liz Trass.
The parties discussed coordinating a common response to a Russian troop build-up near Ukraine's borders.

Prior to that, on December 23, Borrell and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba discussed the situation in Eastern Europe against the background of the Russian troops building up around the Ukrainian state border.
It is planned that in early 2022, representatives of Russia and the United States on security issues in Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at an annual press conference on December 22.
Meanwhile, NATO, responding to the so-called proposals of the Foreign Ministry Russia on security issues has repeatedly made it clear that the Alliance has never guaranteed that it will not accept new members.
