British Labor MP Angela Rainer called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to answer taxpayers if there really was a special regime in the provision of government grants to entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri, with whom the Prime Minister had a love relationship. Reiner's letter is published by Mirror.
The deputy noted that over the past week, information has appeared that testifies to the clannishness of the country's conservative party and the misuse of budget money. In this regard, the case of Johnson's connection with Arcuri takes on new significance.
“Following the transfer of £ 2bn from the budget under government contracts to sponsors and friends of the Conservative Party during the coronavirus pandemic, there is significant and legitimate public concern about 'nepotism' and special treatment of people close to the party,” writes Rainer.
She urges Johnson to take urgent action to reassure the British people that there is no special treatment for government grants or preferential access for Jennifer Arcuri. In his letter, Rainer insists on the publication of detailed information about the companies that have received government contracts through the so-called VIP-strip, thanks to the existing relationship with conservative ministers and members of parliament.
As the newspaper writes, now the British authorities intend to reopen an investigation about whether there was any preferential treatment of Arkuri.
Johnson has previously escaped criminal charges due to his scandalous sex ties with American entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri. The investigation concerned the period when Johnson was still mayor of London (he held this post from 2008 to 2016). In particular, he was suspected of providing illegal financial assistance to Arkuri's business, as well as the possible embezzlement of the budget of the capital of Britain. The police concluded that Johnson did not provide illegal sponsorship to his girlfriend. At the same time, it was proved that he really was in an intimate relationship with Arkuri.
