Just a few months after the re-registration of Boeing's 737 Max-8 crisis jet, there was another incident with the aircraft model. On a flight from Miami to Newark, the pilots switched off an engine on Friday due to possible mechanical problems, as announced by American Airlines.

Ultimately, however, the machine landed safely. All 95 passengers could have left the plane normally, the 6 crew members were also safe and sound.

Boeing merely stated that the company was aware of the incident and referred to the airline for further information. The US aviation authority FAA announced an investigation.

Similar incident in December

At the end of December, a Boeing 737 Max had to land unscheduled on a transfer flight due to a similar incident. In this incident there were allegedly problems with the fuel supply in the left wing.

Boeing engine goes up in flames

At the end of February there was a spectacular incident involving a Boeing aircraft. In this case, however, it was the Boeing 777-200 long-haul aircraft. Shortly after take-off, the right engine partially fell apart and went up in flames.

Dramatic videos of passengers show the broken engine on fire. Parts of the turbine fell to the ground and landed in a housing estate.

The 737 Max-8 aviator

The 737 Max was banned from flying for around 20 months after 2 crashes with 346 deaths and was only allowed back in the USA in November. The reason for the accidents was considered to be defective control software. There is no evidence of a connection to the incident on Friday.
