On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the shadow from the Earth will fall on the Moon, from which it will turn crimson, as it is sung in one of the songs, will become downright blood red – the Bloody Supermoon.
The effect arises from the fact that the moon for some time remains illuminated only by the sunlight that passes through the atmosphere of our planet. The atmosphere absorbs the shortwave – violet and blue – part of the spectrum, leaving only the red. The red rays will make the disc of the moon “bloody”.
Astronomers of the Moscow Planetarium warned about the upcoming – quite mystical – spectacle. And they recalled that the eclipse will happen at a time when the Moon becomes full and comes much closer to the Earth than usual. That is, a total eclipse of the Supermoon awaits us.
In the Supermoon, the disk of our natural satellite becomes about 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter, simply due to the fact that the distance to the Moon is shrinking. And this happens because its orbit is slightly elongated, it resembles an ellipse.
The minimum distance between the Earth and the Moon at perigee is 356355 kilometers. The maximum is at its apogee – 406,725 kilometers.
Supermoon is the moment when the full moon approaches the Earth at a distance of closer than 362,000 kilometers. On May 26, 2021, the Moon will be 357,462 kilometers from Earth – closest in 2021. That is, it will be the largest and brightest.
The eclipse of the Supermoon – its full phase – will begin at 14:12 Moscow time, and will end at 14:27 Moscow time. Alas, in Russia it will be possible to watch the show only in the Far East. And in the European part it will not be visible at all – only a bright and huge Supermoon. Without bloody impurities.
THREAT FROM THE SKY
The color of our natural satellite, of course, cannot influence anything. Therefore, lunar eclipses do not pose any danger. Is that exacerbate the state of “lunatics” – people with an unstable psyche. Their outputs are possible.
But the Supermoon promises trouble. Quite serious scientists assure: coming close to the Earth, our natural and very massive satellite increases the gravitational effect on it, provoking volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, serious man-made accidents – which are talked about in the news.
The supermoon keeps in suspense for about a couple of weeks – a week before its rise and a week after. If we “look back” – in the recent past, it turns out that every phenomenon of the Supermoon was accompanied by some catastrophes or military conflicts, up to events of a global scale.
