Drinking cranberry juice can help normalize blood pressure. This is reported by the Daily Express with reference to a study by scientists, the results of which were published in the European Journal of Nutrition.
The scientific work is based on the data of 45 studies. It turned out that, on average, systolic blood pressure in those who consumed this drink decreased by 1.52 millimeters of mercury, and diastolic – by 1.78 millimeters of mercury.
In addition, scientists from Laval University in Canada have stated that cranberry juice has a positive effect on blood cholesterol levels. In their opinion, this effect is due to the polyphenolic compounds contained in the berry. It is also noted that this drink is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Earlier, doctor and TV presenter Sergei Agapkin said that cranberries and various additives from it are used as a therapy for cystitis. He emphasized that the world's leading scientists have confirmed the benefits of this berry: cranberry intake is included in many international clinical guidelines for the treatment of urinary tract infections.
