Blocking Trump's social media accounts won't last forever

The Facebook administration said that Donald Trump's actions require the most severe punishment, so his Facebook and Instagram accounts will be blocked for two years – until January 7, 2023.

After this period, the administration of the social network plans to attract independent experts who will have to determine whether Trump's pages continue to pose a threat to society.

“Given the seriousness of the circumstances that led to the blocking of Trump's accounts, we believe that his actions were a serious violation of our rules, which requires the most severe punishment provided for by the new protocols,” the Fox Business edition quotes a statement from the administration of the social network.

Trump reacted to the decision of the administration of the social network, calling it offensive:

The Facebook ruling is an insult to a record 75 million people, as well as many others who voted for us in the rigged 2020 presidential election. They should not be allowed to pursue a policy of censorship and silence and ultimately we will win. Our country can no longer tolerate this violence!

The White House, commenting on Facebook's decision, said that such a decision is solely the business of the company itself, since it is she who is responsible for providing truthful information to millions of citizens.

The accounts of the 45th president were blocked in January this year after the storming of the Capitol. Facebook explained its actions by “preventing calls to riots”.
