On June 23, another temperature record was set in Moscow – 34.8 degrees. And this is not the limit, forecasters again predict an abnormally high temperature, most likely, June 24 will again go down in the history of meteorological observations.
– Between 14:00 and 15:00, the air temperature at the VDNKh station was 34.8 degrees in Moscow – this is the highest temperature in June in 143 years, since 1879. June 24 will be the same heat, – says the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand to Izvestia.
Abnormal heat is even in Yakutia, beyond the Arctic Circle +33 degrees. The reason is a powerful high anticyclone, which is called “blocking”.
– It blocks the west-east transport of air. In such conditions, the heat can persist for a very long time. For example, this was the case in 2010, when the capital was enveloped in smog from burning peat bogs. Then a similar cyclone kept a thirty-degree heat for almost two months in a row, – said the leading meteorologist of Gismeteo Leonid Starkov.
Muscovites are reassured – there is no point in expecting a recurrence of peat fires in 2021. According to the VNII GOChS, after those cases, colossal work was done to water the peatlands in the central region of the country.
Doctors warn that in such heat it is better not to leave the house unnecessarily. People with cardiovascular diseases are at risk.
Many people prefer to save from the heat by water bodies. As of the beginning of this week, 14 incidents occurred there, 12 people were rescued, four drowned. They swam in forbidden places and were drunk. Such data were provided by the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Moscow.
Bathing in the heat is also not safe. The difference in temperature between air and water can cause severe vasospasm, accompanied by an increase in blood pressure.
– The cardiovascular system suffers the main blow. The heart and brain begin to experience a sharp load. As a result, a heart attack may occur, and in the worst case, myocardial infarction or stroke, – said Mikhail Lebedev, a leading expert of the CMD Center for Molecular Diagnostics of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
Earlier forecasters predicted that by June 28, the heat in the capital would begin to subside. The temperature background will be +26 … + 30 degrees, a sharp decrease by +7 … + 8 degrees will be recorded. By Friday, the sky will be covered with clouds, and then rain with thunderstorms is possible, the “360” TV channel reports.
