A recent meeting of the coordination group with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, Ukraine and five neighboring countries was described by a representative of the European Commission as "extremely useful".
The European Commission continues to search for a compromise solution that would coordinate support for the Ukrainian economy, including its agricultural sector, and the protection of sensitive sectors of the European market.
European Commission Speaker Olof Gill stated this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
“These are complex issues for which there are no simple solutions,” he said.
The representative of the European Commission called the recent meeting of the coordination group with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, Ukraine and five neighboring countries “extremely useful.”
When asked by journalists whether the situation on the border with Ukraine led to the destabilization of the domestic market, Olof Gill did not give a specific answer.
“Poland introduced a unilateral blockade against imports from Ukraine, and one can only ask whether it is working as intended, especially given that farmers are now blocking border points,” he said.
Answering journalists’ questions about the growth of agricultural exports from Russia to the European market, including to Poland, he recalled that Russian agricultural imports are not included in the general list of European sanctions against Russia, since they are considered important for maintaining global food security.
We would like to remind you that a meeting of the coordination group on Ukrainian exports took place in Brussels on February 20, during which Ukraine and Poland continued to seek understanding on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
