US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reacted to the evacuation of employees of the US embassy in Kiev. He shared his opinion at a press conference in Honolulu, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Blinken, this measure is prudent against the backdrop of a high risk of escalation around Ukraine.
The head of the State Department also said that it is possible to resolve the situation with the help of diplomacy. According to him, if Russia escalates the situation, the response of the US and its allies will be “quick, unified and tough.” At the same time, Moscow categorically denies the plans attributed to Russia by the West.
“Yesterday we ordered the departure of most of the Americans still in the American embassy in Kiev. The risk of military action from the Russian Federation is high enough, the threat is serious enough to consider this a prudent measure,” Blinken said.
