Biologist linked the incidence of coronavirus in Russia with the weather

The incidence rate of COVID-19 in Russia in the next two months will depend on the weather, says Anch Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, RIA Novosti reports.

According to her, different strains of coronavirus infection are now found around the world – Brazilian, British, Indian strains.

“These strains are already in Russia. They compete with each other, and it is not clear which of them will win in what area. I think that in the next month or two in Russia everything will be determined by the weather, ”Baranova said.

She explained that if it is hot or dry, the transmission of the virus from person to person will decrease, it will be possible to avoid a surge in the incidence. If it rains, people will gather indoors, which will further spread the infection.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that a group of scientists from the World Meteorological Organization did not see the connection between the weather and the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
