Biologist explains how the spread of COVID-19 depends on weather conditions
Nikolai Nikitin, professor of the Faculty of Biology of Lomonosov Moscow State University, expressed the opinion that the Indian strain of coronavirus spreading in Russia is not associated with hot weather, Sputnik radio reports.
The specialist emphasized that during the period of observation of the morbidity, no dependence on weather conditions was revealed, only social factors became determining.
“Heat, bright sun and ultraviolet light have no effect on coronavirus infection and on the virus itself. As for the strains, it cannot be said here either that the heat affected the emergence and spread of new mutations, “Nikitin noted.
Earlier it was reported that scientists have identified the ability of the coronavirus to change blood cells. According to them, this explains the increased risk of vascular occlusion and pulmonary embolism in COVID-19, as well as oxygen deficiency in cells.
