Biologist Ancha Baranova warned what the extinction of bees on the planet will lead to

Ancha Baranova, professor at the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, spoke of the extinction of bees and bumblebees, which is happening all over the world, as a serious problem on the air of the Nefantastika program on Radio Komsomolsky Pravda. The expert noted that this will very soon begin to affect the availability of food resources for mankind, since there is no pollination without bees and “further, accordingly, we have losses in agricultural crops.”

However, the biologist said that biotechnology and bioeconomics come out on top, because, as it turned out, they can make bees and bumblebees in “large quantities, industrial”, while these insects reproduce only industrially.

“At a special biological plant, where bees and bumblebees, and not just wild ones, but specially modified ones, multiply in an industrial way … the tasks were set so that while at this stage of the technology there was safety – that is, these bees and bumblebees did not will multiply, well, because after all we are introducing some species, perhaps, which will be because of that, ”she said.

If these modified bees begin to multiply, she said, they could overwhelm some native species that still remain. “That is, there is undoubtedly a modification there, but not such that they would not bite you … they are a little more simplified as a species, yes, that is, they cannot reproduce,” the specialist added.
