Biochemist warned about the dangers of not washing underwear after purchase
Biochemist Elle McLeman said what would happen if you do not wash your underwear after purchase. The specialist warned that this can lead to dermatitis, according to the Daily Mail. The scientist explained that various kinds of irritation are usually caused by dyes or fungal infections. Typically, they remain on the fabric from previous buyers during fitting. Dirty bras, in turn, can lead to mastitis.
“This can be very dangerous, especially for breastfeeding mothers, because women in the position are more vulnerable to this kind of disease,” McLeman warned.
According to a poll conducted by The Derm Review, 31% of those surveyed do not wash their new underwear before putting it on.
Earlier, experts from Roskachestvo found a toxic substance styrene in women's underwear while checking 20 Russian and foreign brands. Among them, in particular, were Incanto, Intimissimi, Women'secret, Victoria's Secret, Oysho, Tezenis, Triumph, H&M, Uniqlo, Defile. According to the organization, in China-made Incanto panties, the styrene content is almost 10 times higher than the norm. The substance may cause skin irritation and an allergic reaction.
The oncologist also recalled that an incorrectly selected bra does not just cause discomfort – it can provoke serious diseases. Bruises, age spots and even cancer may appear. Alexander Bratik said that if a bone digs into the skin, presses on the chest and axillary region, and this happens constantly, over time, a nodular formation may appear there. At first, most likely, it is benign, but there is a high risk of its degeneration into oncology.
