Billie Eilish
American pop singer Billie Eilish has responded to accusations of racism. She posted an apology to Asians for ridiculing the accent on her Instagram account.
The performer posted an appeal to the story, in which she explained the videos that were on the network, in which she allegedly imitates the Asian pronunciation of the English language and uses a derogatory word referring to eastern nationalities.
The artist explained that then she was about 13 years old, and she did not understand the meaning of the song with an offensive word, which she sang in one of the videos. The celebrity noted that no one in her family used this word. “Regardless of my ignorance and my age at the time, nothing will change the fact that it can hurt. And for that I apologize, ”Eilish wrote.
However, the singer denied accusations of imitating an accent. According to her, she has been communicating with family and pets with a similar voice since childhood. “I will use my opportunities to fight for inclusiveness, kindness, tolerance and equality,” concluded the pop star.
Billie Eilish was previously accused of racism for making fun of an Asian accent. The scandal erupted over a video posted on the TikTok account of a user with the nickname lcxvy. On the recording, you can see how the artist distorts words, while her brother Finneas tries to parody the speech of African Americans.
