Biden and Major

A dog named Major (from English – “major” or “chief”) Democrat Joe Biden, winning the US presidential election, will be the first animal in the White House, taken from the shelter. The BuzzFeed portal drew attention to this.

Biden and his wife Jill own two German Shepherds. The couple took the Major in 2018 at the Delaware Humane Association. According to the publication, the politician made this decision after his daughter Ashley posted a post to the organization on Facebook, which said that the puppies were looking for a new home. Another pet, Champ, was purchased by the Biden ten years earlier from a breeder.

It is clarified that Major will be the first dog in the White House, taken from the shelter. The first stray dog that turned out to be at the head of state was the dog Yuki (translated from Japanese – “snow”), which was taken by President Lyndon Johnson. He was found by the American leader's youngest daughter at a Texas gas station on Thanksgiving Day 1966.

In November, the Democratic candidate posted a tweet calling for the dogs to be returned to the White House.

In October, Biden supporters released a campaign video claiming that the current American leader, Donald Trump, is untrustworthy because he does not have a dog.

Confirming their opinion, members of the Dog Lovers For Joe Biden group showed a series of shots in which Trump's predecessors are captured together with their pets. The creators of the video emphasized that over the past century, Trump has become the first president who has no pet. They showed a snippet where the American leader laughingly declares, “What would I look like if I walked my dog on the White House lawn?”
