Joseph Biden
US President-elect Joseph Biden's cough during his speech on the results of the electoral vote alerted viewers and journalists who commented on the politician's speech on social networks. The British tabloid The Daily Mail drew attention to this on Tuesday, December 15.
One user figured that the Democrat coughed 17 times in 14 minutes of speaking. Another advised Biden to drink water and not frighten voters. The woman, whose profile indicates that she is a physician, recalled that, according to the rules of fighting the coronavirus epidemic, one should not cough into a fist, as Biden did, but into the bend of the elbow.
NPR political columnist Scott Detrow noted that it is common for the president-elect to clear his throat during speeches, but this time he did it more than ever.
During a live broadcast of communication with reporters, Biden commented on his condition: he said that he had a little cold. His headquarters reports that the politician recently – on December 12 – was tested for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, and the test showed a negative result.
Earlier on December 15, it became known that Biden received the electoral college votes necessary to win the presidential race. He won 55 California electoral votes, thus gaining 302 votes. To win the presidential race, you need to get 270 electoral votes. The Democrat called the electoral college decision a clear victory over the incumbent Donald Trump.
