The administration of US President Joe Biden was accused of opening Pandora's box in the situation with the migrant crisis and the spread of the coronavirus. This was stated by the mayor of the city of Gila Bend (Arizona) Chris Riggs in an interview with RT, published on the Telegram channel.
According to the politician, thousands of migrants arrive in the city, but the federal authorities at the border do not transmit any information to the locals about their state of health – while they can get sick with COVID-19. Riggs believes that this could affect the health of not only the residents of Hill Bend, but also other American cities.
“There are many elderly and elderly people living here, whom she [the situation with migrants] can seriously affect. We hope that the border control service will begin testing [for the presence of coronavirus] … We did not have such a crisis with COVID-19, as in some other cities in Arizona, and we expected this situation to remain [stable], “the mayor said …
Riggs stressed that he does not place responsibility on the border control service, but exclusively on the federal authorities. In his opinion, the Biden administration should take the initiative and think over a plan in order to prevent the catastrophic consequences of the migration crisis.
On March 10, The Washington Time wrote that the White House is reluctant to recognize the flow of illegal migrants as a humanitarian crisis, calling the situation on the border a “challenge.” Biden's immigration policy was also criticized by former US President Donald Trump. He believes that America is facing a catastrophe due to the uncontrolled flow of illegal migrants from the southern border. He also said that his administration “saw through the asylum fraud and defeated the smugglers, drug and human traffickers.”
In early March, an Arizona sheriff said areas on the US-Mexico border had become less secure and more open to criminals since the Democrat came to power.
