Biden wins California and consolidates temporary leadership

by alex

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden predictably won the states of California and Washington, securing temporary leadership in the number of electors – 227 versus 204 for the current head of state, Donald Trump. Fox News reports.

The US West Coast traditionally votes mostly for Democrats. So, in California, only half of the votes were counted, but Biden's lead is significant – he has about 70 percent. Thus, he receives 55 more electoral votes. The Democrat is gaining 60 percent in the states of Oregon and Washington, he also leads the important state of Minnesota (53 percent to 45 for Trump).

However, Biden's current leadership does not mean his best chances for an overall victory. It is known that Trump is ahead of Biden in a number of so-called “swing states.” Trump most likely won in Texas, Iowa and Ohio. According to the information at 7.45 Moscow time, in Pennsylvania he also has a 56 percent advantage, while Biden has only 41 after counting almost half of the votes. The Republican also leads so far in the faltering Georgia, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Earlier it was reported that Trump won a victory in the key state of Florida. As a result of counting 98 percent, Trump won 51.3 percent of the vote, while Biden got 47.8. These are quite unexpected results, since during the election campaign the Democrats staked on him.

The preferences of residents in the “swing states” are divided approximately equally (swing states), the victory in the vote there with an equal degree of probability can go to a candidate from any of the parties.

November 3 is general election day in the United States. Citizens elect a president and vice president, and 35 senators, the entire House of Representatives, 13 governors and local government representatives will be elected. The current head of state, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, who served as vice president under Barack Obama, are fighting for the top post.
