US President-elect Joe Biden stayed at the White House's Blair House guest residence ahead of the inauguration. This is reported by TASS with reference to the pool of a democrat.
According to the agency, the politician accepted an offer to stay at the residence last week. In the building opposite the White House, guests of honor of the President and the US government stay. Since 1942, Blair House has hosted visiting foreign heads of state and government, as well as members of their delegations. In addition, according to tradition, the new head of state is lodged there for several days before his inauguration and entry into the White House.
Biden's inauguration is scheduled for January 20. In particular, Vice President Mike Pence is invited to the event. At the same time, Biden called the decision of the current American leader Donald Trump not to attend the event as good, as he said earlier. Increased security measures have been taken in Washington in connection with the inauguration. Much of the city center, adjacent to the White House and the Congress, is closed to traffic. Capitol Hill is cordoned off, access is limited.
On January 19, Trump's wife Melania refused to invite Biden's wife Jill to the White House hospitality tour.
