The Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who is considered the president-elect, will demand from the governors of all states to introduce a universal mask regime even before his inauguration as head of state. TASS reports.

Biden said that up to 200,000 people could die in the country from complications caused by the coronavirus before he took office on January 20. He stressed that he will work with local authorities, regardless of their party affiliation, in order to ensure that social distancing is respected by citizens in all states. The democrat also stressed that wearing a mask is a manifestation of patriotism and concern for fellow citizens.

Earlier, Biden warned that the reluctance of US President Donald Trump to accept the 2020 election results could hinder the new administration in the fight against the coronavirus. During a press conference in Delaware, Biden noted that the number of victims of coronavirus infection in the United States could be higher “if we do not coordinate our actions.”

On November 7, Democratic candidate Joe Biden won 290 with the required 270 electoral votes. Having secured his victory, he declared himself the President-elect of the United States. Trump, in turn, said that the elections are not officially over yet, and the results will be appealed in court. He believes that Biden was quick to name himself the country's new leader.
