US President Joe Biden said that he wanted to cooperate with Russia in a number of areas, but at the same time he was ready to resist it, for example, in a situation with hacker attacks. This was stated by the representative of the White House Jen Psaki, reports “Interfax”.
According to her, the head of state made it clear during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 26 that there are areas where Moscow and Washington can cooperate.
At the same time, Psaki stressed that Biden has fears in relation to some areas, for example, alleged interference in elections, hacker attacks.
On January 29, Vladimir Putin signed an agreement to extend the Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms between the two countries (START, the unofficial name is START-3) for five years, until February 5, 2026. The United States intends to complete the extension of the contract before the expiration of the document. Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained the swift signing of the missile treaty agreement by the political will of the new US administration.
