US President-elect Joe Biden said he intends to use martial law in order to speed up vaccination against coronavirus. His statement is reported by TASS.
Thus, the law, which involves the mobilization of production to combat COVID-19, will instruct private companies to support the efforts of the authorities.
The 1950 War Manufacturing Act allows the US federal government to de facto force private companies to work for states in an emergency. The law was previously enacted by the current American President Donald Trump at the beginning of the epidemic.
Earlier, Biden predicted the timing of an improvement in the situation with coronavirus in the country. He predicted that “things will get worse before they get better.” In his opinion, the Americans may not see positive trends with the pandemic until March. Biden stressed that the actions of the administration of the incumbent head of state, Donald Trump, were “far behind” the necessary ones.
The United States remains in first place in the number of reported cases of coronavirus infection, with 19.5 million cases of infection detected there.
