Joe Biden
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has proven to be the most profligate contender for the highest office in history. This is evidenced by a study by Advertising Analytics, writes The Hill.
The former vice president has spent more than $ 582 million on TV ads alone in the past year. At the same time, over the past week, spending amounted to $ 45 million. For the remaining ten days, the Democratic candidate has an additional 57 million paid TV time.
The spending of his Republican rival, incumbent President Donald Trump, was much lower. They amounted to $ 342 million, and over the past two years.
Over the past week, both sides have invested $ 160 million in TV and Internet advertising, with Trump spending slightly more than Biden on Facebook and Google promotion – $ 14 million versus $ 12.7 million. Republicans and Democrats, along with their supporters, have paid for over 100,000 ads since early October.
The US elections will be held on November 3. In addition to the president, they will elect the House of Representatives, a third of the Senate, and the governor of 13 states and territories.
Polls show Biden's lead is growing ahead of the election date. So, according to CNN, the gap reached 16 percentage points – 57 percent against 41. However, Trump argues that the polls do not reflect the real picture. At a pre-election rally in Florida, he expressed confidence that he would again, like four years ago, put his competitors to shame.
The last debate between Democrat and Republican took place on October 23rd. On them, both candidates argued that Russia wants the victory of a competitor, and also denied any ties with Moscow.
